Gratitude: One of the Simplest Habits to Improve Mental Wellbeing
Text your thoughts and questions!
During Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to revisit the practice of gratitude, a topic we have covered on the podcast before and is a personal favorite of mine. Studies have shown that having a gratitude practice is a powerful, yet simple healing habit that has a direct impact on your mental wellbeing. This week, episode 210 of the Positively LivingⓇ Podcast is about one of the simplest habits that improves mental wellbeing!
In this episode of the Positively LivingⓇ Podcast, I’m revisiting what gratitude is, the scientific benefits of it, and actionable steps to take right now to incorporate a gratitude practice into your daily life.
I also cover the following topics:
- The“protective factor” of practicing gratitude, as defined by the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) curriculum I studied.
- Research-based evidence that practicing gratitude reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, when practiced consistently.
- How gratitude can be used in the habit reversal training technique to break the loop of negative thoughts (that don’t serve you) and replace them with positive ones.
Gratitude is one of the strongest allies we can have as we fight for our wellness. It creates a positive foundation for the things we want more of and counteracts the things we don’t.
